Here’s to Love.

Processed with VSCOcam with c7 preset

At least once in your life, I hope you fall in love. Deeply, and unapologetically so. I hope you have someone who will carry you up the stairs in the aftermath of a treacherous 20 mile hike. Someone who cooks a mean omelette and knows just how you like your bacon. A partner who will car dance with you and serenade you with pop songs with your name inserted in. One who will frolic through national parks and celestial beaches with you. I pray that you will have someone to hold you in the safety of their embrace as you weep when life overwhelms you. Someone who refuses to get in the way of your big dreams and ambitions, who pushes you to achieve and to create. I hope you find someone who you love to listen to, whose mind you want to watch, absorb, and digest in all it’s […]

Milano via #vidtalianjob.

I need you all to promise me something right here and right now. If you ever go to Milan, you must make a blood oath to visit the Prada Foundation. Okay fine, you don’t have to take a blood oath, but lets shake on it okay?? I first discovered this hidden gem from this NY Times article, and just my luck i was able to visit within a few weeks of it opening. It’s so so so very worth it. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.  Unless you hate beautiful spaces and art, in which case… why are you even reading my blog? We obviously don’t vibe. ANYWAY for those of you with an affinity for the beautiful, prepare to take a trip to drooltown. Everything about this space was SO well thought out. There wasn’t a single thing that felt jarring or displaced. Like, every inch of this […]

Ahhhh, Berlin. the land of impossibly cool architecture and tragic history. It was so fun to be in Germany. My mother served a 18mo church mission in Munich almost 40 years ago, so it was really cool to see how she could still speak a little bit of Deutsch! I also took two years of German in high school, so obviously i’m basically fluent. Hallo. Ich bin Emma. okay thats about all i got. In addition to having a ton of incredible architecture, Berlin is home to a lot of graffiti. It’s rich in culture and home to a fairly young generation. If you ask my mother, Berlin feels like a whole different country than her pretty, clean, orderly Munich. On our first day, we went to a poster store as per Sarah Kay’s recommendation. It was so awesome to see a lot of really cool books and letter-pressed and […]

Vidmar Stockholm Syndrome.

~*~*~*~*PHOTO DUMP AHEAD~*~*~*~ When I was in high school, I told my mother that someday I wanted to go to Italy and Greece, and would she go with me. She, being every so supportive of my adventurous spirit said something along the lines of “yeah, that would be fun! maybe when you graduate college” which i’m sure she hoped i would be satisfied with and promptly forget. i didn’t. Even when I went on my study abroad three years ago,  I remember specifically telling her that it DID NOT count, because we didn’t go to italy. So when I actually did finally graduate college, it was like, “okay Mom. Now or never.” we chose now. So I invited pretty much everyone in my family, and the only one able to go was my brother Paul,  who joined us for the first week. His ADHD and my general obnoxiousness always gets […]

tubbs hill, first snow, and new friends

During the christmas season there was a lot of relaxation. a lot. Too much. It got to a point where I was finally in need of a break from my spot on the couch. I think I’ve left a permanent butt imprint. I needed to be creative. I realized a few months ago how much I had been taking my home town for granted, and I wanted to document some of my post familiar places with some creative people. Cue Mckenzie, Cory, and Justin. Mckenzie and I have been friends since our wee little days in club gymnastics, and competed in high school together. She’s adorable, as you can tell. Cory and I met through mutual friends slash instagram. If you’re not already following him there, you’ve probably been living under a rock. It’s okay, we forgive ya. ALSO i’m stupidedly realizing that I didn’t even get a picture of […]

Bay is Bae.

Even though I’m sitting in a hallway waiting for my next class to start, I’m trying to remind myself that just yesterday I was in Northern California, enjoying some snow-less beauty. It was just a few days ago that I got to meet a few SF fellow photogs and do a little photo-walk/general exploratory wanderings through this unfamiliar city. It was on fleek (thats another cool/hip/rad/neat new word by the way. I learned over break. if you didn’t know bout it, remember I’m just here to help you be cool. you know, pop culture and junk). ANYWAYS. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to travel over break. I didn’t really feel rejuvenated from break until I got to California. It was wonderful to go home, but you can only feel so inspired after watching so many hours of netflix, you know. #LifeOfTheUnmarriedVidmar So here are some photo documentation of […]

twin peakzzz

Hi. i’m in san francisco and it’s really pretty and that makes me happy. Kirsten and Ryan took me to Twin Peaks to see SF from a better view. Fun fact: you will get laughed at if you call it San Fran. don’t be that guy. Listen. I don’t make the rules kids, I just tell them to you so people don’t mock you. I’m only looking out for y’all.

Zions National Park

This trip has been a long time coming. I’ve been wanting to go to zions since i moved to utah almost 5 years ago. Finally I got fed up with my trite excuses that kept me from making the short drive out of provo and into one of God’s most beautiful places. We got to zion’s pretty late and as expected all the official campsites had been filled. We wandered around, even asked a hotel receptionist how much it was to camp on their campgrounds. It was 30 bones for two people. yeah, no thanks. Being my fathers daughter, I knew I just had to ask the right people; the right locals.  I made us stop in the supermarket to ask the cashier what our options were. The bearded man gave us some very specific and yet incredibly ambiguous instructions to some public land which we would just set up […]

Sunday at the Cloister Museum.

On Sunday, we went to church in Harlem, and then a few of us wandered up to the Cloister Museum which is just a few subway stops from our place. It was incredible. I felt like we weren’t even in America anymore. It was such a beautiful and still place. The pieces in it are mostly from Medieval Europe so it was all very religious Christian art. It was the perfect museum for a sunday evening.I’m terribly sorry to those who have been annoyed that I haven’t posted more pictures. I’m still getting settled and trying to figure out which camera’s to bring and yada yada yada and I honestly just keep bringing my film cameras… I can’t say why. Part of it might also be because I left my camera battery charger in provo and I’m waiting on it’s arrival here (ps. thanks brookie i love you. *kess* *kess*). […]

Mems Day

This weekend was absolutely a blast. Monday I had just planned to get the majority of my packing done, but instead it turned into an memorial day adventure. We started by paddle boarding in Utah Lake and it was so fun! (mad probs to caleb for being brave enough to bring his camera and taking pictures). Then we went to a barbecue up in payson canyon and I just absolutely loved every minute of the day. It was a beautiful holiday, and such a fun final weekend before I head out. I’m so thankful for these humans. I was happy to celebrate the lives of those who have given them for our beautiful country.
