Today we went to the Tate Britain Museum in the morning. It was quite interesting. I mostly took pictures of the more modern things because that tends to be the kind that evokes the most emotion for me. But the museum was cool cause it had some of both contemporary and older. It make me get more creative with my photos and hope to become more creative with other outlets of my creative process. Sometimes it’s just really great to absorb. I felt like this museum was a great place to absorb and get ideas. (also to shamefully take pictures of myself) I can’t wait to go to the Tate Modern now, cause this was pretty good! I have a lot of things to do, classes are starting to pick up and I just need to CREATE. anyways after the museum i had my graphic design classes then went and […]
Today was my first “lazy” day. I say that with hesitation because i don’t feel like the day has been unproductive. I worked on my illustration piece and it was quite theraputic. the only time we left our the flat was to get supplies and at art store near trafalgar square. We made the mistake of going on the tube during peak hours and after an unpleasant, squished, smelly ride home we watched mary-kate and ashley olsen’s Winning London, followed by a few episodes of Downton Abbey. I daresay it was a marvelous day!
holy, wow. today was just wow. I had design class in the morning and am currently trying to find a project to work on, it’s slightly stressful, mildy exciting, incredibly nervewracking. anways after class we went to a small museum called the Courtauld. absolutely incredible. It was pretty small compared to the other places i’ve been moseying around. but this had pieces from artists that everyone knows. Today I saw pieces from Degas, Monet, Matisse, Rembrant, Cezanne, Renoir, and Picasso! I even saw some of Leonardo Davinci’s sketches! FHE tonight was in Westminster Abbey, we toured it then attended Evening Song. What an experience! I know it’s like a big deal and all that, but i got a little bit of the creeps while inside and i’m not sure if thats a blasphemous statement or not.. The building was just SO BIG. like the ceilings were just so incredibly tall […]
victoria and albert museum, looking at old fashions, taking pictures of pictures, sacrament meeting, 12 hour nap, etc.
A lot of you asked where the Harry Potter Studio Tour was, the studio is located in Leavesden, a city just outside of london. if you’re ever in this area of the world i highly recommend it. Today was another fun day. We went to Portabello Market. It was a good experience but there was just soooo many people. i was just overstimulated and felt rushed. so i didn’t actually buy anything. though i did get a free sample of some wonderful smelling incense–which then crushed in my purse. Afterwards we finally concluded our small scavenger hunt to find Primark. It was a madhouse, and yet i didn’t learn escape empty handed. Good deals my friends… anywho. our little groupling decided that we like the Spitalfields market better. There were though by the time we were there we were pretty worn out. We did however sit and have lunch/dinner. I […]
if you didn’t already hate me… be prepared to. what a magical day. So i definitely think this was worth the money. We saw everything, there was so much. it was all the original stuff from the movies. It was absolutely incredible and perfect. We were oooo-ing and ahhh-ing for 3 or 4 hours. there was just SO MUCH. unfortunately my camera died before diagon alley, so i had to borrow Bri’s. it’s all good. the experience of Harry’s world was all completely worth it. also, i hope you enjoyed Jessy’s and I attempt at modeling. We’re building out portfolios.. it’s whateves… afd
Today was quite a bit slower than the past few days. It started out with my illustration class in the morning which consisted of wandering the national Portrait Gallery for inspiration for our self portrait. There is an exhibition there right now that i was enthralled by. Some of the pieces there were so photo-realistic, mad props to the painters with enough patience and talent to paint such a thing. After we were all wandered out, we went back to the bookstore with all those amazing design and photography books and i just felt so both inspired and inadequate. I decided to dedicate a portion of each day to admiring good design so that it becomes so familiar to me that creating it becomes a breeze. After the bookstore we caught the tube back to out flats and got some groceries for dinners and snacks. and this is the point […]
holy balls. I have never done this many things in so short of a time. It’s so strange to think i’ve only been here three days. Today was as busy as ever. It started with breakfast in the cafeteria… which unfortunately looks like it’s going to be the same thing everyday… Anywho we went to the British museum! There was so much to be seen, nevermind trying to do it in one day. We visited the egyptian section of course. My mom will vouch for my never ending love of mummies (in elementary school one of my favorite books was all about mummies). I GOT TO SEE THEM IN REAL LIFE. now you get to see them in picture life. We also visited the roman area, and some really cool victorian era stuff. I’m really not sure of all we saw. but i will be going back, thats definitely a […]
wow. Today was draining. i feel like the city could be explored for years and i still would find new things. We did the tour of the city. the double-decker buses and all. It was a highly touristy day for us and i am kinda grateful because then it will help us get pretty acquainted with the city. We went to Oxford Crossing after supper and i about went crazy. so much shopping. so many places i want to live in. I now want to become incredibly wealthy an live in London for the rest of my life. I think it’s pretty doable… a funny thing happened today, it was on the tube. there were a loud group of middle class brits riding the same line as us. As we walked to the way out i couldn’t help hearing the men behind me… “I’m telling you thats disporprotional!” “I disagree” […]
Even as I type it i find it hard to believe. I haven’t really slept at all the past couple days, I’m trying to put it off to get over my jet-lag faster. As soon as i finish this post i’m going to become real good friends with the bed behind me. It seems really nice and friendly I think we’ll get along splendidly. So this is what today looked like: first things first, I’m not even sure what day it is because my internal clock is so out of wack right now. Anyways… the plane ride: surprisingly not as bad as i thought it would be. I was absolutely dreading a long period of time with very limited space to move and the task of sleeping to even get the slightest leg up on the jet-lag monster. The two flights i had were quick and mostly painless We got […]
