I was playing around in photoshop today, playing around with some texturing techniques. one thing lead to another, and this GIF happened. so. happy not even friday i guess.
My sketchbook goes just about everywhere with me. It’s where I take notes on a clients project, work through design problems, sketch thumbnails, doodle when I should be paying attention, and take notes in church. My sketchbook is a pretty good visual representation of me. It doesn’t make a lot of sense, and it’s fine with it. I got this sketchbook for christmas last year, and I just now finished it. For how often I use it, I realize I’m a little slow. That being said, this has been my favorite sketchbook to date. I’ve stopped trying to put limits on what I can put into it. I don’t try and impress anyone with this sketchbook because it’s purely for myself. Sketchbooks are not supposed to be perfect! So I made sure to let that be a constant reminder and I decided to just let whatever happens, happen. It turned […]
because it’s springtime, and GIF’s are fun.
A few weeks ago, Laura contacted me asking if she could make a video of me. I was so flattered, and of course I said yes! I finally got to see it the other day and I thought I might share it with you. Laura is so incredibly talented, and I’m feeling pretty blessed that she found me interesting enough to work with. Enjoy!
I warn you, there is going to be a lot of pictures from this trip. I apologize. There will be a LOT of pictures, and not all are great quality. I haven’t been taking my nice camera out at the studio visits because I don’t want to be overbearing and what not, so quite a lot of these I just snatched on my phone. I’m actually going to separate them into two posts. one of the visits and appointments and then one of our late night adventures 🙂 ^^^ we started off our appointments at Doyle and Partners and it was so informative. They led us through their design philosophies, some projects they’re working on, they’re past projects, their personal projects. Incredibly gracious and wonderful people. ^^^flat iron building! had to take a picture, because duh. ^^^after constant recommendations of this place by adrian decided to grab lunch at city […]
I was having a really hard time getting into the grove of things the other day so I thought I would watercolor the word “focus” into my sketchbook (haha). Much to my dismay, but not to my surprise it looked awful. So I covered it up with stuff I did like, and then I spent an hour or more collaging a whole page (not photographed). I finished up, let the glue dry, and stepped back to laugh at the irony of that whole situation. I refuse to feel bad for doing creative things, even when I know that sleep/homework/sanity seem like better options, or at least thats what I decided last night.
This whole semester i have been neglecting my poor blog. I wish i could give some grandiose excuse but it really comes down to priorities. all the time i would typically spend blogging i poured into prepping to get into the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) program here at BYU. In the next few days i’ll be updating my portfolio website (my harddrive crashed a few months ago and i just got it back with all the data) so you can see some of these up close and personal once i do that. anyway, it was all worth it. I was able to put things in my portfolio that i was genuinely proud of. and it paid off because… I GOT IN! i’ve been working towards this since i got into the BA program about a year and a half ago so it’s pretty rewarding to be at this point. It’s […]
i know its after christmas and stuff, but i made these and i wanted to share.i hope your holidays truly were happy 🙂
okay so i FINALLY got my film developed and scanned. and as i thought… I’M IN LOVE WITH THEM. here is a photodump for your viewing pleasure. Kodak Portra is my favorite film in existence. nuff said.(also fun fact, i’m three likes away form 300 on my photography facebook page, so if you like what you see, you should like it by clicking the photgraphy tab on the sidebar)
your mad skill is KILLING ME. I am obsessed with these. I’ve been so into coloring on top of photographs, to me it’s like combining my two favorite mediums.. photos and collage! i’ve attempted once or twice, but i bought some photographs to really have some fun with. Check out how incredible April Deacon has been nailing it! you bet i’m going to try and do some that mimic this aesthetic. i can dig it. please note: all images found at this site
