oh another post about portland? not sorry…

-Kassie’s radio show made me feel like a real cool cat. mostly cause kassie is a kool kat, so i pretend to be one by association-Even the walk to the city was saturated with beautiful greenery EVERYWHERE. i seriously adored it.-I can’t stop thinking about two things, Salt and Straw ice cream, and Por Que No. I could eat both for every meal until i die a happy gluttonous death.-and finally these girls. they are some of my very flavorites. Tonya is seriously the most rad of the rad, please check out her blog if you haven’t already.

Oregon Coast Pt 2

so i moved into my new place, buuuut we don’t have internet yet. and someone thought it would be a good idea to have us move in the day before labor day weekend… so we’ve been internetless and hot water less for three days now. Its quite the fight for survival… Anyways I’m sitting at starbucks trying to edit the rest of my portland pictures before school sneaks up on me and pushes them to the back of my mind–cause i know it will. First, here are a few more pictures from the coast:

Oregon Coast

Dear future husband, i only request that you propose to me on the oregon coast, more specifically hug point. I wish i could explain how beautiful the coast was on sunday. I can only describe it as magical.  I’ve added a extended camping trip on the oregon coast to my bucketlist, because i simply must go back. It’s one of those places that just makes you feel like everything is okay. And for those few hours, no matter how much crap you seem to be going through, everything is. I like my beaches cloudy, soaked with soft light and soft colors, so i suppose you could say i was in heaven. Also, if you’re ever at cannon beach, stop by Sleepy Monk to get something warm to drink but also to get yourself a rosemary bagel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese because it will most certainly change your life. i’m still dreaming of it, […]

KASSIE TURNS TWENTY ONE

i’ll admit, i’ve tried to be a “cool kid” in the blogging world… but ultimately i know my place. this post will probably ruin all chances of me sitting at the popular table in the proverbial internet lunch room that we all instagram our pretty food pictures at. mostly because this post is completely dedicated to my best friend kassie, and we have a knack for doing just whatever the heck we want. duck faces and all. we’ve battled adolescence together and came out slightly normal, maybe. i’ve posted about her quite a few times… so you may have seen her. we’ve been friends since we were 4 yrs old and unfortunately for you we really started documenting it at the peak of our awkwardness… teenage years… so here’s to you my dear:

last and final recap of that time when i didin’t have school

Lately i’ve been shooting film, because i’ve fallen in love with it. Espeically Kodak Portra. The permanence and the raw quality of film is unlike anything else. I really shot film for the majority of christmas break and i super love it. what i don’t super love is the amount of dust i found on my images once scanned. But i’m impatient and decided to edit out the extremely annoying dust marks with photoshop and then just let it happen….begrudgingly

the backwoods are my backyard.

yesterday my best friend and i went exploring a place both of us know pretty well, it’s the county park which is like 2 minutes from our houses (which is a big deal, because NOTHING is usually two minutes from our houses in the boonies). i was a little wary about going here because once you’ve seen something so many times, it sometimes begins to feel cliche, a little too familiar. But this was not one of those days. I was pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the colors, and the cat tails with snow?! might be a new obsession. We had a jolly good time, and i shot a third of a roll on Portra, so i’m excited to see how it turns out. portra makes me smile more than any boy has in the last year. dramatic? meh. its that good. Anways. these are taken on my phone….. OH YEAH I GOT […]

happy camper.

Earlier this week i went camping with my parents and best friend. We had so much fun! My dad just finished this project involving a trailer he’s had for years, he converted it into the ultimate camping accessory. He added a new floor, and made some sort of platform so that they could sleep in it and store things underneath, and then all sorts of pockets and storage places everywhere else. They were really excited to use it, I was excited to get some time to enjoy Northwestern beauty. I wish i had taken pictures on the drive there but alas, i was being a good driver and not getting too distracted… Anywho, while we were up there we went to this SAWEET natural waterslide. we wore garbage bag skirts and slide down into a real good time. I put lots of pictures from that hike/adventure on instagram and if […]

“what did you learn today katie?” “i learned i have the perfect face”

Wednesday was such a perfect day. I got to take senior pictures of one my favorite people, Miss Katie! I was once her Camp Counselor, and now she’s all grown up and unbelievably gorgeous. I know what you might be thinking “Of course you think she’s pretty, you’re so biased Emma, jeez” But let me just show you how perfect her face is. It definitely helps that she is one of the sweetest people i’ve ever met, or that she refuses to acknowledge her beauty. I kept commenting on how gorgeous she was and every time she replied with “I’m glad you think so”. Katie wants to be a chef someday, but her favorite food is mac and cheese. She’s great. i promise. Also Kassie tagged along to be my assistant, she was also great. I’m dying over it.
