Emma’s Life Update. (ft. Martha Stewart)

Processed with VSCOcam with c5 preset

I’m currently sitting in my building’s laundromat, thankful for a moment with my thoughts to be still and to write some things down. my life has been moving at such a rapid pace, and therefore hard to keep track of and difficult to find the time to share. But I want to share, I want to be able to look back at this time of my life! Somehow I keep getting in my own way. I keep making rules for myself about my blog. Like “you can’t share about New York until you’re done updating about Europe! It needs to be chronological! At that rate, I’d never catch up. So instead i’m just gonna keep moving forward, and get o the rest of the Europe posts when i can. So, update time. I am in love with a boy named Blaine. Still. We’ve been dating 8 months as of Friday. […]

Farewell to the city of cities.

shot on my mamiya c330  on kodak portra 400 Well, i finally have a computer and turns out my facebook feed has just become a never-ending catalog of ice bucket challenges, wedding posts, or recent engagements. All good things i guess, but the redundancy ultimately led me here. The summer has drawn to a close, and with it my time in New York City. With school starting tomorrow I think it’s as good a time as ever to talk bout my experience there. Truth be told I went back and forth with my love when it comes to the city, but in the end I felt it was an incredible experience. I loved my internship. really, I absolutely loved every minute of it. I worked with the nicest people, who taught me so much. I immediately felt like I was part of the team. I felt valued. With the high […]

Beach Day

I know it’s been all crickets here, but thats because most of my images i’ve been shooting have been with a film camera, so there isn’t much to share. however, we went to the beach on the 5th of July, and we brought the good ole’ digital. I don’t know if these images will mean anything to you, but they make me smile. It was the perfect beach day, with a few of my favorite people. It was more than I could have asked for. Thanks universe. I needed that. just so you know, Rockaway taco’s were life changing. kbye.

Relationship Status: It’s complicated until further notice.

shirt & skort: zara // purse: kate spade saturday // shoes: Gap // necklace:thefted from mom // lips: naars (train bleu) So. Hey. It’s been a while since I posted anywhere but instagram. There are some technical reasons for that. as well as some emotional reasons. Either way it’s been a pretty tough week. On Wednesday, Someone broke into our apartment. They came in, stole four laptops and left in what we assume a hurry. After getting that dreaded text,  I raced home as soon as i could from work. Thanks to the tropical storm Arthur (or is he a hurricane now? I’m not sure) It was the most miserable walk in the history of the A train commute. 1 mile of walk-jogging in non stop rain, and dread growing with every second. I got home just before the first set of police left. We all just sat in misery as we […]

dusk and summer

Hey guys. Meet Mike. He’s a new friend of mine. He wanted to learn more about photography. I know a thing or two about photography. We decided to do something about it and explore his area of town (west village) and we ended up just right on the river at dusk. it was every sort of pretty. and though we didn’t have much light to work with, we had a pretty good time playing around.

crazy pants and a fear of tuesdays

shirt:banana republic // pants: h&m // shoes: old navy oh hay. here’s a flashback outfit post from my little trip to the cloisters.  With it I want to flash back to last monday. I was feeling ill. Not the cool kind of ill which full of swag and the like, but rather the kind where your head feels lethargic. thats the only way i can think to put it.  It was so hard to work through. I had 8 hours at a desk and a cool project to work on and my brain was working against me. Tired brains aren’t super great at being creative, in case you were wondering. I didn’t know what to do. it was a freaking monday and it felt like a funk with no end. As I was going to bed that night I said a quick prayer telling God how horrible my day was and how […]

for it’s root, root, root for the hoooome team.

What kind of summer in New York is it, if you don’t go to a yankees game? am i riiiight? Last night was a blast.I think for the most part it felt like a right of passage as a temporary new yorker. We’re all pretty happy we went, especially since the Yankee’s won. It was really hot at the very beginning while the sun was still out, and I had made the mistake of wearing all black that day and had no time to change between work and the game, so for a good 20 minutes I was a sweaty mess. So that explains the above grumpy face. We spent the majority of the time making baseball puns and laughing at how ridiculous most of them were, as well as trying to work the play Damn Yankees into conversation because we think we’re hilarious and clever. so you could definitely […]

an update

When I left for New York, I imagined it would be similar to my Europe trip, in the sense that I would be taking pictures everywhere, and posting all the time. Instead I find myself becoming so distracted exploring that I forget to take my camera out. I’m at Martha from 9 to 6 everyday and it takes me about 45 min to get to and from work. Weeknights mean I have time for maybe one little excursion. But I tend to come home and get in bed my 11:30. I’m still trying to pinpoint the exact moment I became an “adult” but I think being ready for bed before midnight is a pretty good sign pointing to grown-up territory. yikes. I find myself watching and absorbing and taking everything in at every moment. I feel so at ease here, which surprises me because big cities seem like the kind […]
