shirt: banana republic // skirt: uniqlo // shoes & earrings: old navy // necklace: blue nile jewlery I’m still a sucker for monochromatic/gray/black outfits, so it only makes sense that my first sunday outfit had minimal color. It’s ironic I feel that way since the majority of the clothing I packed for the summer is preeeeetty colorful. meh. what can you do. These pictures were taken in the Lobby of my building. I’m obsessed with the tile work. The area I’m living in is pretty great. I feel safe here which I’m sure my father will be relieved to hear, and it’s really close to a park. It’s also so close to New Jersey that the other day my roommate went out for a walk the other day and ended up there. Every night there are people in the streets until really late, and usually someone is playing Latin music […]
On Sunday, we went to church in Harlem, and then a few of us wandered up to the Cloister Museum which is just a few subway stops from our place. It was incredible. I felt like we weren’t even in America anymore. It was such a beautiful and still place. The pieces in it are mostly from Medieval Europe so it was all very religious Christian art. It was the perfect museum for a sunday evening.I’m terribly sorry to those who have been annoyed that I haven’t posted more pictures. I’m still getting settled and trying to figure out which camera’s to bring and yada yada yada and I honestly just keep bringing my film cameras… I can’t say why. Part of it might also be because I left my camera battery charger in provo and I’m waiting on it’s arrival here (ps. thanks brookie i love you. *kess* *kess*). […]
I really think that I might be in love with this city. New York, will you marry me?! I had my first day yesterday and it all just felt so wonderful. The team I’m working on, is so perfectly suited for me that I can’t help believe in divine intervention and a higher purpose for me being here. I’m not going to talk much about my actual internship because ya know, confidentiality and all that good stuff. but fyi I won the raffle yesterday and got a bunch of free martha products, so yeah. that was awesome. All you need to know that I’m loving being here, and I’m excited to discover what the rest of this summer has in store for me. p.s. I haven’t taken my DSLR out just yet, seeing as it’s way heavy and I haven’t wanted to carry anything I don’t have to, but I’m sure I […]
^^^ my very favorite photo from the last month, Polaroid taken by Brooke in Catalina ^^^ The past couple weeks have been every kind of fun. I’ve been on awesome dates, had perfectly perfect nights laughing with my roommates, and I’ve traveled to Sacramento, Vegas, LA, and Mexico. I can’t help but feel so overwhelmingly blessed with the opportunities that I’ve been able to have. I have a little over a week before I start my next big adventure. It finally hit me today how real this all is. Humor me for a little bit while I explain why seeing whats on the horizon makes me so inexplicably happy. Three years ago, after changing my major four times my freshman year. I finally decided to pursue graphic design. In the visual arts program here at BYU, you must first apply to be a part of the BA program (Bachelor of […]
….which is wonderful seeing as I’ll be interning there this summer at Martha Stewart Living! I’m starting to feel like a real big grown-up human! I’m headed back to the east coast in June for my life’s next big adventure. growing is so neat. yay design!
yesterday after our adventures some of us decided to go out for dessert… which ended up being a doughnut ice cream sandwich. go ahead and think of that. yeah. that went into my belly. mmmhmmm. we basically goofed up like no body’s business and it was good. ^^^we hung out at the hotel for a quick minutes before heading out for a dessert adventure. ^^^the bro-fa….
I warn you, there is going to be a lot of pictures from this trip. I apologize. There will be a LOT of pictures, and not all are great quality. I haven’t been taking my nice camera out at the studio visits because I don’t want to be overbearing and what not, so quite a lot of these I just snatched on my phone. I’m actually going to separate them into two posts. one of the visits and appointments and then one of our late night adventures 🙂 ^^^ we started off our appointments at Doyle and Partners and it was so informative. They led us through their design philosophies, some projects they’re working on, they’re past projects, their personal projects. Incredibly gracious and wonderful people. ^^^flat iron building! had to take a picture, because duh. ^^^after constant recommendations of this place by adrian decided to grab lunch at city […]
let me begin by saying that when I travel, places have a habit of feeling like home immediately. Like I get a sense that I could live anywhere. But let me tell you, I could ESPECIALLY live in NYC. It’s so energizing here! It might just be cause I’ve been in the Mormon bubble too long, but I also find the diversity of people and stories SO SO SO fascinating. I love it. we got in around 3 yesterday and decided to grab food as soon as humanly possible, but I lead us there in a super round about way by accident. eep. I swear I might have left my brain in Provo. I hope it comes back to me today, I kind of need it now. We decided after our food that we would like to get the touristy things out of the way so we headed to Times […]
